People are what make Washington, DC an unforgettable place to live, work and visit. The health and safety of our clients and guests is our top priority as Events DC reopens for business during COVID-19.
As Events DC continues to respond to the pandemic, we are enhancing sanitation, providing additional training for staff, and making physical improvements to our facilities across the District to protect the health of our employees, customers, guests, and our community. All Events DC staff are required to be fully vaccinated.
Mayor Bowser announced the lifting of the district-wide vaccine requirement for indoor facilities, effective February 15, 2022. Guests attending events at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Entertainment & Sports Arena and other Events DC venues will no longer be required to verify their vaccination status. However, we will accommodate individual event organizers that choose to require proof-of-vaccination for their events and guests should confirm the protocols in advance.
Face masks are optional inside all Events DC venues starting March 1, 2022.
We are invested in getting the capital’s vibrant economy growing again – responsibly. Along with other local public health, business, entertainment and recreation leaders serving on Mayor Muriel Bowser’s ReOpen DC Advisory Group, Events DC is taking guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and DC Health to ensure that our decisions are well-informed and consistent with best industry practices.
We are also listening to our employees and customers. The core values embodied in our award-winning Strive for Five customer service program – Respect, Professionalism, Communication, Teamwork and Accountability – demonstrates our commitment to delivering safe and memorable event experiences for everyone as we reopen our venues and resume our services.
Events DC has earned GBAC STAR™ facility accreditation for the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Entertainment and Sports Arena and DC Armory from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC)®, a Division of ISSA, for its preeminent cleaning, disinfection and infection prevention strategies.
